I am a certified Star Trek nerd. One of my favorite episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation is “Tapestry.” Captain Picard is given the chance to go back in time and correct a mistake from his past. After seeing the effects of this change play out in his life he decides to set events back to their original timeline. In reflecting upon this experience he tells his first officer, “there are many parts of my youth that I'm not proud of. There were loose threads - untidy parts of me that I would like to remove. But when I pulled on one of those threads - it had unraveled the tapestry of my life.” I’ve named my practice “Loose Threads Therapy” because I know that life is messy. Harm has been done to us and we’ve harmed others. We all carry regrets and long for a life that hasn’t been stained by trauma. I don’t have a time machine and can’t offer you a new timeline. Healing involves acceptance and integration. Accepting that which is unchangeable and being able to understand how the past has shaped us into who we are today. From this understanding, we can more skillfully chart our future.
About Me
My two main focuses in therapy are men experiencing life transitions and adolescents needing support with self-esteem and emotional regulation. The men I work with are deep thinkers seeking to clarify their purpose in life while managing the uncertainty that comes with change. With a specific understanding of the tech workplace, I address existential concerns about finding fulfillment in one's career and rediscovering one's sense of self when self-confidence has been shaken. With adolescents, I focus on supporting big feelings and challenges with adjusting to live events such as divorce or loss in the family and school difficulties.
I aim to show up to sessions as a deeply human therapist, honored to do the sacred work of connecting with people who are striving to understand themselves better. Together, we will better understand your story, making connections between your past relationships and your present struggles, and building towards lasting change.
